4 Resources of the month you should try: July Edition
Handpicked finds that I genuinely believe could help you
Another month, another roundup.
Welcome to the July edition of Resources of the Month You Should Try, a curated list of tools, frameworks, and articles I genuinely think are worth your time.
If you’re new here: hi and thank you for subscribing! I hope you’ve already found something useful in Marketer in the Making.
Every month, I collect a handful of resources that have helped me or I think will be useful to you and I round them up and deliver them straight to your inbox. This series is exclusive to subscribers and you won’t find it anywhere else.
Following are resources I found in July, you can also catch up on precious editions here.
Resource #1:
Really Good Emails
What it is: Sort of like an email inspo bank where you can view templates to get inspired for your next email campaign.
Why I liked it: It features thousands of real emails from both small and big brands, neatly categorised by type like abandoned cart, product recommendations, and more.
How you can use it: Next time you’re stuck on how to design an email, browse through the templates for inspiration. Pay attention to the layout, copy, and overall design. I wouldn’t recommend using the templates directly since they’re publicly available, you want your emails to stand out. Use them as a guide, not a done for you solution.
Resource #2:
Webinar Planning Kit
What it is: A kit by HubSpot that includes a guide and a template to help you plan webinars.
Why I liked it: I’m currently in the process of organising the next series of webinars at work and let me tell you it's NOT EASY. I started going through this kit and saw that it has a guide, a template and a checklist helping you streamline the planning. Definitely will be using this!
How you can use it: Read the guide, take some notes and then use the template to start planning your webinars!
Resource #3:
Average engagement rates for 12 industries [January 2025]
What it is: A blog by Hootsuite reporting the average engagement rate across different social media platforms, broken down by industry.
Why I liked it: One time, I was asked about the benchmark for our industry (education), and I used this blog to support the data in my social media report.
It reminded me of something I learned during my degree: always back up your claims with credible data. It not only strengthens your argument but builds trust in your work. How you can use it: Use this blog as a reference point when you're creating or presenting your own social media reports. Whether you're benchmarking engagement, setting goals, or defending performance, having reliable industry data makes your insights more persuasive. Just be sure to check the publish date and use it alongside your platform’s own analytics to get the full picture.
Resource #4:
The Secrets to Building an Online Community of 500K
What it is: A YouTube video by The Marketer’s Debrief Podcast featuring Sophie Miller from Pretty Little Marketer.
Why I liked it: An engaging and clear breakdown on how to build a community online which inspires me as a marketer and I may or may not have watched this video twice.
How you can use it: Watch it… that’s all I’m telling you!
P.S. Sophie is actually subscribed to this newsletter! Hi love :)
Bonus: Your FREE accomplishment tracker
If you’re reading this, it’s because you care about becoming the best marketer you can be, just like I do. But let’s be honest: it’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough when you can’t even remember the things you have achieved. I’ve had moments where I questioned my progress, simply because I didn’t have a way to see it clearly.
That’s why I created this Accomplishment Tracker, a simple Notion template to help you capture your wins, build your confidence, and remind yourself just how far you’ve come.
Get yours below. Trust me your future self will thank you for this!
Another roundup complete! I really hope you liked this month’s resources and if you did let me know which one you will be trying first.
